FAVSD Events

This year we celebrate our club’s 50th anniversary!

FAVSD meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday night of the month from 6:30-8:30 pm (social time starts at 6pm). Each meeting includes an educational presentation on African violets by guest experts or club members, followed by club business. Our club will be assisting in the 2026 national African Violet Society of American show in Dallas, Texas in May. Our annual show and sale will be replaced with a display and sale so that we can focus on the national show.

The FAVSD annual show and sale usually takes place in the spring, and invites other local clubs to take part. The violet sale provides a friendly, local opportunity for visitors to buy African Violets and growing supplies, and club members are available to help interested shoppers prepare their leaves for propagation. This event is free to the public.

Mary Corondan presents on standands at the 2024 Workshop.

The FAVSD workshop and sale is held annually in the summer. Invited experts presented on multiple topics relating to African violets (e.g., growing different species, care, lighting, pests, soil amendments). The workshop is free for attendees, and the violet sale is always a big draw with hundreds of beautiful, locally grown plants available to choose from.
