FAVSD meetings are held monthly, usually on the second Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00 pm. Each meeting includes an educational presentation on African violets by guest experts or club members and a sharing of plants and leaves.

The FAVSD annual show and sale usually takes place in the spring of the year. The multiple entrees are arranged by category, and exemplary plants in each category win best in show. The violet sale provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to buy African violets and growing supplies. This free event is open to the public.

The FAVSD workshop usually is held annually in the summer. This free event is open to the public. Experts in the field of African violet species, care, and hybridization are invited to present concurrent workshops to the visiting attendees.
