First African Violet Society of Denton

Crazy about African Violets? We are too, so come join us!

2021 Workshop & Sale

The FAVSD hosted a summer Workshop and Sale June 17-19, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church- Erwin Hall, 1114 W. University Drive, Denton, Texas. We welcomed over 100 participants each day which included members from the Dallas and Fort Worth African Violet groups. Over 500 African Violets and other Gesneriads were sold. An unofficial show was held with Senior Master judge Mary Corondan, who debriefed the entrants on their plants. Three workshops were held: How to Grow African Violets” by Mary Corondan, “Learning about AVSA” by Sue Ramser and Ron Davidson spoke on “How to Grow Primulinas”. Sue Ramser was honored for her past service as President of the African Violet Society of America. She was presented with a hand-painted china plate, an award Bill Foster received in 1987. It was very meaningful as they were AVSA peers over many years. On Saturday a potluck luncheon was served giving AV friends old and new time to catch up with each other. Friends came from as far away as Arkansas and Houston, Texas.
